Before Your Electrolysis Appointment

To ensure the best results and protect your skin, please follow these guidelines before your treatment.

24–48 Hours Before Treatment

• Let your hair grow out to 1/8 or 2mm, usually 3 days growth. Your electrologist needs enough length of hair to grab it with a pair of tweezers.
• Do not use retinol, tretinoin, or exfoliating acids
• Avoid chemical peels or strong skincare treatments
• Stay well hydrated
• Avoid
• Drink plenty of water. Keeping your skin hydrated means follicles have plenty of saline in them which is needed for the current to work well. It will also minimize the discomfort.

Day of Your Appointment

• Arrive with clean skin (no makeup, lotions, or oils)
• Avoid caffeine if you are sensitive to treatment discomfort
• Do not pluck or wax hair before treatment
• Hair should be visible for treatment
• A light exfoliation the day of can help release trapped hairs
• If you are being treated in a sensitive area, consider taking ibuprofen or Tylenol 30 minutes before your appointment (if approved by your physician)

Post Treatment Care

• Avoid retinol or active skincare ingredients
• Do not use harsh scrubs or acids

Skin Care Recommendations

• Apply aloe vera or soothing gel if needed
• Keep the area clean and hydrated
• Use SPF daily to protect treated skin
